As you might already know, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has issued a proclamation declaring August 6 a “Day of Prayer and Fasting for Our Nation” and to mark the occasion is helping the American Family Association to organize an all day evangelical Christian rally at Houston’s Reliant Stadium. In response, the Freedom from Religion Foundation has filed a lawsuit seeking to block Perry from continuing his association with the event.

Center for Inquiry President and CEO Ron Lindsay writes that the suit will likely be dismissed, but he uses the rest of his essay to take Perry to task over his actions. I think the first sentence about sums it up:

Rick Perry is a lying demagogue who is contemptuous of the First Amendment and whose god is a monster.
