God and the Pledge

David Kirk Wall, writing in the Chicago Tribune, argues that the Pledge of Allegiance doesn’t need God, and neither do we:

The U.S. Constitution does not begin with God; it begins with We the People. It is in people that the fate of this country depends. This is the way it has always been, and this is the way it always will be.

Enjoy the long weekend.
